Verena D’Alessandro studied photography at the Milan School of Cinema and obtained an Art and Literature degree from Rome University ‘La Sapienza’. She attended graduate level courses in Sociology of Art and Culture at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes (E.H.E.S.S.) of Paris; two-years courses in Drawing and Painting at the ‘Lignarius’ Art and Restoring School in Rome; and four-years painting courses with diploma at the Municipality Decorative Art School of Rome.



In the 1980s Verena D’Alessandro started working as photographer making réportages for several magazines and writing visual communication texts for the italian national broadcasting (Rai). In the early 1990s she began the study of painting technics pursuived for ten years. In 2001her first solo-exhibition. Since then she has been invited at several institutional group exhibitions and to present her work in solo-exhibition in many cities (see section Exhibitions).
She is professor of Culture Sociology and Visual Communication at the Rome University ‘La Sapienza’, while painting remains always her main activity.

Verena D’Alessandro usually lives and works in Rome and in the Maremma Country.
